B.Tech Biomedical (Lateral Entry) is for the 3-year program. Biochemical Engineering is a branch of Biological Engineering or Chemical engineering. B.Tech. Biochemical is an undergraduate Biochemical Engineering Course. The course aims to progress in food and environmental protection industries and relevant industries to healthcare/medical.

This course is Technology, Science, and Engineering driven. The concepts of Enzyme technology, Genetics, Industrial Microbiology, Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Bio-informatics, Phase Equilibrium Thermodynamics & Property Estimation, Thermodynamics, and Biochemical Reaction Engineering have been introduced in this course.

In this course, students learn a number of things like packaging food items after processing, preservation of food, improving food quality, maintaining the health factor, reducing the use of toxins and much more. Many industries rely on biochemical engineering and there is a vast scope in both domestic and foreign job markets.

Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech Biomedical (Lateral Entry)

1. The candidates who possess the Diploma in Engineering / Technology awarded by the State Board of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu or its equivalent are eligible to apply for admission to the third semester of B.Tech in the branch corresponding to the branch of study.

2. Applicants must achieve at least 50% to 60% of the points in the relevant proficiency tests.

3. Eligibility conditions for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwD categories will be 45% marks in the qualifying examinations.

4. Applicants must not be younger than 17 at the time of application.

Admission Process 

1. Colleges publish admission notices on their website from June when most Indian universities would have finished degree exams.

2. Candidate to apply for each college, as each college considers each mark the cut-off mark.

3. Some private colleges and deemed universities perform their counselling process by conducting their university-level entrance exams.

4. Some colleges require a minimum of 50% aggregate in the qualifying examination.

5. Candidates who qualify for the test are called for an interview before the final seat allotment.

6. Some of the entrance exams for BTech are JEE Main, WBJEE, JEE Advanced, KCET etc.
